The National Bank of Greece Historical Archives were set up for the purpose of preserving, processing and displaying archive material of National Bank of Greece deemed to be of historical importance. NBG has demonstrated particular concern for its archive material since its early days. As a consequence, NBG possesses a comprehensive historical archive whose time span coincides practically with the history of the Modern Greek state.

Most of the key moments in the economic history of the Greek nation, as well as important events in the political, cultural and social history of the country are reflected in the archive material of NBG.

Today, the NBG Historical Archives are located in the Diomidis Building, Athens and play a leading role in the deployment of new technologies for the management of archive material. In its efforts to produce and promote work of social and cultural significance, the Historical Archives of NBG undertake a variety of initiatives and actions.
